Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Virginia.
Virginia dental license fees are set by regulation and vary by credential type. Under 18VAC60-21-240(A) and 18VAC60-25-180(A), active or inactive dentist and dental hygienist licenses renew annually in the licensee's birth month. Faculty licenses, temporary resident's licenses, restricted volunteer licenses, and temporary permits renew on or before June 30 each year, and mobile clinic/portable dental operation permits renew by December 31.

Other fees common across credential types include a $60 duplicate wall certificate, a $20 duplicate license/registration, a $35 license certification/verification letter, and a $50 handling fee for a returned check or dishonored card. Sedation and anesthesia permits (moderate sedation; deep sedation/general anesthesia) each carry a $100 application fee and $100 annual renewal fee, and Oral/Maxillofacial Surgeon registration carries a $175 application and $175 annual renewal fee. No fee is refunded or applied to any purpose other than the one for which it was submitted.
