The Arizona Dental Association (AzDA) is the professional membership organization for Arizona dentists, affiliated with the American Dental Association. Founded in 1909, AzDA has represented Arizona dentistry for more than 115 years and now represents over 2,000 member dentists.
AzDA describes its advocacy program as one of the most vigilant in the country, with a state legislator serving as its executive director. Members receive access to news and insights about legislation, BODEX rule changes, and events affecting dentistry in Arizona — described as politically neutral and unbiased.
2026 legislative results
- HB2308 (signed into law) — Bars insurance companies and their holding companies from owning dental practices, protecting clinical independence, competition, and patient choice.
- HB2906 (signed into law) — Requires that one of the Board's dentist seats be held by an actively practicing oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
- SB1019 (stopped) — AzDA helped defeat legislation that would have prohibited community water fluoridation across Arizona.
AzDA hosts in-person CE courses, local, state, and national webinars, and what it describes as the largest dental annual meeting in Arizona. Members also receive endorsed partner pricing and access to a members-only insurance hotline for claim denials and EOB questions.
AzDA offers free mediation services for patients who wish to resolve concerns before filing a formal complaint with the Board — available regardless of whether the dentist is an AzDA member.
Three local dental societies operate under AzDA: the Central Arizona Dental Society, Northern Arizona Dental Society, and Southern Arizona Dental Society.
