The Hawaii Dental Association (HDA) is the statewide, nonprofit professional membership association for dentists licensed in Hawaii. Incorporated in Hawaii in 1903 and organized under IRS Code 501(c)(6), the HDA is the Hawaii constituent of the American Dental Association (ADA) and is made up of four county-level societies: the Hawaii County, Honolulu County, Kauai County, and Maui County Dental Societies.
The HDA reports roughly 997 members, representing over 92% of dentists practicing general dentistry and the eight ADA-recognized dental specialties in Hawaii. Its mission is to serve the profession and the public by preserving the integrity of dentistry, strengthening the doctor-patient relationship, and promoting the ADA's Principles of Ethics and Code of Professional Conduct.
Membership connects Hawaii dentists to their local county society, the state association, and the ADA at the national level, and includes continuing education programming (including the annual HDA Convention), legislative advocacy on issues like access to care and scope of practice, and a public "Find a Dentist" directory.
