Montana Dental Association

Updated August 2026

Contact details and membership information for the professional dental association serving dentists in Montana.

The Montana Dental Association (MDA) is the professional membership organization for Montana dentists, affiliated with the American Dental Association. MDA represents over 1,000 dentists in the state and advocates for better oral health for all Montanans.

2025 legislative priorities (69th Montana Legislature)

MDA describes the 2025 session, which began January 6, 2025, as highly successful for the association's agenda. Priorities included:

  • Requiring dental insurers to direct at least 80% of premiums to paying claims, matching an existing requirement for major medical insurance
  • Pursuing increased Medicaid reimbursement funding for dental coverage
  • Gradually raising the cap on medical malpractice non-economic damages
  • Resisting efforts to shift regulatory control away from the Board of Dentistry to DLI's broader bureaucracy
  • Working with dental hygienists on a regulatory solution for the Limited Access Permit (LAP)

MDA also offers members continuing education — including a 10-week virtual "Dental Management & Business Academy" mini-MBA program worth 30 CE hours, and Dental Assistant Radiography Certification courses — along with an annual meeting, member benefits, and its free Peer Review dispute-resolution service for patients (see the complaint-process section).

MDA can be reached at (406) 443-2061 or by mail at PO Box 1154, Helena, MT 59624-1154. More information is available at montanadental.org.
