Montana Dental License Renewal

Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Montana.
Montana dental licenses renew annually. Per the Board's current renewal notice, the renewal period begins January 1 and licenses expire at the end of February; renewals can be completed online at ebiz.mt.gov/POL or by mail.
Initial application fees

Volunteer license applications cost $5.00; Restricted Non-Resident Volunteer applications cost $10.00 (dentists and hygienists). Anesthesia/sedation permit endorsements cost $200.00 to apply (moderate sedation or deep sedation/general anesthesia), $25.00 to renew, plus a $200.00 initial inspection fee and $150.00 reinspection fee if needed.

Inactive renewal fees were reduced to 50% of the active rate because inactive licensees are exempt from CE requirements and cost the Board less to oversee. All active dental licensees (except those on inactive or suspended status) must also pay a separate $30.00 Montana Prescription Drug Registry (MPDR) fee each year, required by 2019 legislation (ยง 37-7-1501, MCA) regardless of whether the licensee actually prescribes controlled substances.
