Hawaii Dental License Renewal

Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Hawaii.
All Hawaii dental licenses, regardless of issuance date, are subject to biennial renewal on or before December 31 of each odd-numbered year (HRS §448-7), except the Community Service Dental Hygienist license, which renews annually within one month before its own expiration date. The Board typically accepts on-time renewals starting November 3 of the renewal year.

The application fee is not refundable. A $25.00 service charge applies to any dishonored payment.

A license forfeited for failure to renew, pay fees, or complete CE may be restored within two years of expiration by meeting the renewal requirements and paying the applicable fees. After two years, restoration additionally requires evidence of at least three years of recent clinical practice (including 1,000+ hours per year for the prior three years), proof of completed CE, and a National Practitioner Data Bank self-query — and the Board may require an independent background check. After five years, the license holder must reapply as a brand-new applicant and retake the licensure examination.
