Idaho Dental License Renewal

Idaho dental license fees are capped by statute (Idaho Code § 54-920) and set within those caps by Board rule. As of January 1, 2026, DOPL placed the Board of Dentistry under a Fee Holiday, waiving renewal fees for dentists and dental hygienists who renew on or before their license expiration date; licensees who renew late remain responsible for all applicable fees. The table below reflects the Board's current published fee schedule, effective July 1, 2026.

Statutory maximum biennial license fees under Idaho Code § 54-920(2) are $400.00 for an active dentist, dental specialist, or general anesthesia/deep sedation dentist, $300.00 for an active dental therapist, and $220.00 for an active dental hygienist, with lower caps for inactive-status licenses. A license expires, and a $50.00 late fee applies, if a complete renewal application and fee are not submitted within 30 days of expiration; after that window the license is canceled.

License fees for new applicants are prorated from the date of licensure to the next scheduled renewal date. Application fees are non-refundable. Confirm current fee amounts before submitting payment at dopl.idaho.gov/bod/.
