Georgia Dental Association

The Georgia Dental Association (GDA), founded in 1859 and headquartered in Marietta, is the professional membership organization representing more than 3,500 dentists across Georgia. Its stated mission is to support and empower dentists at every stage of their careers through resources, continuing education, advocacy, and community.

GDA member programs and services include:

• Advocacy — the GDA played a leading role in shaping and advancing House Bill 567, the 2026 teledentistry law, and provides ongoing legislative updates through its Legislative Insider newsletter.
• Continuing education — in-person and on-demand CE, including a member CE checklist covering Georgia Board requirements each renewal biennium, plus an annual Fall CE Conference.
• Peer Review and Ethics mediation — free dispute resolution for patients concerned about the appropriateness or quality of care, open to complaints against any Georgia dentist regardless of GDA membership.
• Insurance — GDA Insurance Services (GDIS) offers coverage products for members and their practices.
• Community outreach — the GDA Foundation supports charitable clinics and the Georgia Mission of Mercy (GMOM), which is moving in 2026 to a community-based model of smaller, more frequent free-care clinics hosted with local partners statewide.

Three district societies operate within the GDA: the Northern District Dental Society (NDDS), Northwestern District Dental Society (NWDDS), and Southeastern District Dental Society (SEDDS). The Georgia Dental Hygienists' Association (GDHA) is a separate professional organization representing Georgia's dental hygienists.
