North Carolina Dental Society

Contact details and membership information for the professional dental association serving dentists in North Carolina.

The North Carolina Dental Society (NCDS) is the professional membership organization for dentists in North Carolina, representing more than 3,900 member dentists and affiliated with the American Dental Association. Its stated mission is to connect, protect, and support all members in advancing oral health for North Carolinians.

For patients, NCDS offers a Find a Dentist directory and oral-health resources. NCDS is distinct from the Board's regulatory function — membership is voluntary and separate from state licensure — and it operates the independent Patient Mediation Program described in the complaint-filing section above.

NCDS is active in advocacy on issues directly affecting the Board and the dental profession, including opposing non-dentist ownership of dental practices and monitoring proposed changes to Board governance and accountability — issues at the center of the 2025-2026 legislative debate over dental board reform and the corporate practice of dentistry in North Carolina.

The NCDS office is located at 1600 Evans Road, Cary, NC 27513. General inquiries can be directed to info@ncdental.org or by phone at (919) 677-1396. More information is available at ncdental.org.
