The Ohio Dental Association (ODA) is the professional membership organization for Ohio dentists, representing more than 5,000 member dentists — nearly 70% of the state's licensed dentists. ODA member dentists provide more than $40 million in donated dental care and services annually.
The ODA's Executive Committee, its managing body, consists of seven members who meet five times a year. Membership benefits and programs include:
- Legislative advocacy — the ODA represents members on dental practice and public oral health issues before the Ohio Statehouse and Ohio State Dental Board rulemaking, including through its political action committee, ODPAC.
- Annual Session — the ODA's major continuing education and professional meeting, described as Ohio's premier dental conference.
- Dental insurance resources — the Dental Insurance Working Group (DIWG) advocates for and counsels ODA members on insurance and third-party payer disputes.
- ODA Wellness Trust — a health benefits plan available to members and their staff.
- Regulatory Compliance Guide and Endorsed Products & Services — practice management and compliance resources, plus discounted vendor pricing for members.
Component (local) dental societies affiliated with the ODA also offer confidential peer review services that patients and dentists can use to resolve care disputes before a formal Board complaint is filed.
