The Indiana Dental Association (IDA) is the statewide professional organization for Indiana dentists and a constituent society of the American Dental Association. The IDA's stated mission is Supporting Dentists. Promoting Oral Health.
2026 legislative session results
- HEA 1254 & SEA 180 (effective July 1, 2026) — IDA-backed modernization of the three-strike licensure exam rule, expanded Board authority to approve nitrous oxide training programs, and a new dental hygiene licensure pathway for qualified foreign-trained dentists.
- HEA 1271 — addresses insurer payment instability affecting dental practices, including a shortened claim-recoupment window (generally 180 days instead of 2 years, absent fraud), coordination-of-benefits resubmission rights, and new transparency and human-review requirements for insurer downcoding decisions.
- SB 174 (defeated) — IDA helped defeat legislation that would have prohibited community water fluoridation in Indiana.
- SCR 9 (adopted) — recognized Indiana's Donated Dental Services program for surpassing $20 million in donated dental care.
