Texas Dental License Renewal

Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Texas.
Texas dental license fees are set by rule at 22 TAC § 102.1 and may change at the start of each fiscal year (September 1). The figures below reflect the fee schedule effective November 28, 2024 (49 TexReg 9754); always confirm current fees at tsbde.texas.gov/licensing/fee-schedule before paying.
With the exception of faculty licenses, all Texas dental licenses renew biennially (every 2 years), no later than midnight on the expiration date. Renewal postcards are mailed 60 days before expiration; as of September 1, 2021 TSBDE no longer mails renewal certificates.

Dentist licensure by credentials (out-of-state reciprocity) carries a $2,945.00 fee; a temporary license by credentials is $895.00. The Jurisprudence Assessment, required of dentists, hygienists, RDAs, and dental lab managers, costs $54.00 per attempt regardless of license type. A certified license verification with seal is $11.00.
Licensees must hold a current BLS CPR certification, have passed the correct Jurisprudence Assessment, and be in good standing with the Attorney General's Office for Child Support and TSBDE Compliance before renewal will be approved. Continuing to practice more than 180 days past an expired license or registration is grounds for disciplinary action.
