Connecticut Dental License Renewal

Updated August 2026

Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Connecticut.

Connecticut dental licenses renew annually under Conn. Gen. Stat. §§ 19a-88 and 20-113a — not on a multi-year cycle. Renewals are processed online through eLicense; DPH sends renewal notices to the email address on file.

Dentist fees

Fee type Amount
Initial application fee $565.00 (the itemized U.S.-graduate requirements page states a completed application carries a total fee of $569.75, which includes a $4.75 charge to query the National Practitioner Data Bank)
Annual renewal application fee $575.00
Reinstatement fee $565.00
Retired/reduced-fee renewal $95.00 (Regs. Conn. State Agencies §§ 19a-88-5 through 19a-88-10)

Dental hygienist fees

Fee type Amount
Initial application fee $150.00
Annual renewal application fee $105.00
Reinstatement fee $150.00

Any dentist holding current, good-standing licensure who does not practice for monetary compensation may request the $95.00 reduced retired renewal fee by submitting a Request for Retired Dental Status form the first time it is requested (subsequent renewals auto-reflect the reduced amount). Dentists renewing at the reduced fee who provide direct volunteer dental care must still maintain professional liability insurance (Conn. Gen. Stat. § 20-162d) and meet continuing education requirements, and are barred from prescribing Schedule I or II controlled substances or owning/operating a practice.
