Massachusetts Dental License Renewal
Updated August 2026
Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Massachusetts.
All Massachusetts dental license fees are processed online through the Health Professions Licensing Portal and are non-refundable and non-transferable. Dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants each renew on a 2-year cycle.
Initial licensure fees
| License type | Initial fee |
|---|---|
| Dentist | $660.00 |
| Dental Hygienist | $126.00 |
| Dental Assistant | $60.00 |
Biennial renewal fees
| License type | Renewal fee | Renewal deadline |
|---|---|---|
| Dentist | $360.00 | March 31, even-numbered years |
| Dental Hygienist | $60.00 | March 31, odd-numbered years |
| Dental Assistant | $45.00 | October 31, odd-numbered years |
A $57.00 late renewal fee applies once, in addition to the renewal fee, to any license not renewed on time. Licensees who exceed the 90-day grace period after expiration must follow the Board's reactivation process rather than the standard renewal flow, which requires proof of all CEUs owed for each lapsed cycle in addition to the renewal and late fees.
