Rhode Island dental licenses and permits renew on a biennial (2-year) cycle set by statute, not on an individual birthday. Dentists and dental hygienists must submit their renewal application, CE attestation, and fee by July 1 of each even-numbered year, or the license is automatically revoked under R.I. Gen. Laws § 5-31.1-21. Renewals are submitted online at healthri.mylicense.com; renewal notices are mailed 60 days before the expiration date.

Emeritus-Active status is available to licensees who have reached at least age 70 as of June 30 of the licensure year. A $90.00 reinstatement fee is added to the base renewal fee to reinstate a dentist or dental hygienist license that was automatically revoked for failure to renew by the July 1 deadline (R.I. Gen. Laws § 5-31.1-21(b)).
