Kansas Dental License Renewal

Kansas dental and dental hygiene licenses expire December 1 and renew on a biennial basis under K.S.A. 65-1431. Renewal is staggered by license number: licensees with odd-numbered licenses renew in odd-numbered years, and licensees with even-numbered licenses renew in even-numbered years.

Renewal window

• Renewal period: October 1 through December 1
• Grace period: through January 31 (no late fee)
• Late renewal: February 1 through March 1, with a $500 late fee added (K.S.A. 65-1431(c)(2))
• No renewals are accepted after March 1; the license is cancelled

Renewals are processed online through Kansas.gov's licensing portal at kansas.gov/ssrv-dbr. Online renewal is not available to licensees changing between active and retired/disabled status, licensees who must supply supporting documentation (such as out-of-state discipline, a malpractice settlement, or a criminal conviction), or active-military applicants without a domestic mailing address — these cases require a paper renewal form requested directly from the Board.

Other fees

• Reinstatement of a cancelled license: $200 penalty fee (K.A.R. 71-1-20, under K.S.A. 65-1431(e)(2))
• New licensees applying on or after January 1 pay 1/24th of the biennial renewal fee for each full month remaining in the renewal period, in addition to the application fee (K.A.R. 71-1-19)
