Nebraska Dental License Renewal
Updated August 2026
Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in Nebraska.
Nebraska dentist and dental hygienist licenses both renew on March 1 of odd-numbered years. Nebraska uses a single biennial fee chart to set both the initial licensing fee (prorated by the month your license is first issued) and the flat renewal fee.
| License type | Full biennial / renewal fee | Prorated fee (final ~4 months of cycle) |
|---|---|---|
| Dentist | $165.00 | $41.25 |
| Dental Hygienist | $110.00 (initial license schedule; same base rate applies to renewal) | $27.50 |
Other confirmed fees:
- Criminal background check: $55.00
- Preliminary Application Conviction Review: $100.00 per license type
- Certification of license (includes disciplinary history, the DHHS seal, for use by another state licensing agency): $25.00
- Verification of license (basic status only, no seal or disciplinary information): $5.00
- Inactive status: $0 — no fee or CE requirement, but you may not practice in Nebraska while inactive
Fee waivers
Initial and temporary license fees (not the criminal background check fee) are waived for applicants who are under 26 years old, or who are enrolled in a qualifying state or federal public assistance program (e.g. Medicaid, SNAP, TANF) or whose household income is below 130% of the federal poverty guideline. See the Fee Waiver form for details.
Licenses can also be renewed online at nebraska.mylicense.com with a license number, SSN, and credit/debit card.
