North Dakota Dental License Renewal

Fees, deadlines, and what's required to renew a dental license in North Dakota.
License and permit fees are set by North Dakota Administrative Code § 20-05-01-01. The Legislative Administrative Rules Committee approved fee increases across nearly every credential type effective April 1, 2026 — the amounts below reflect the current schedule.

Dental hygienist and dental assistant fees

Dentists and dental hygienists renew every two years by December 31 of odd-numbered years; RDAs, QDAs, and QDA-LRRs renew by December 31 of even-numbered years. A license not renewed by December 31 expires and the licensee may not practice. Late renewal is available for up to 60 days after expiration; from 60 days up to one year after expiration, a licensee may still renew by paying the renewal fee, an additional late fee equal to twice the standard late fee, and providing proof the individual retains the skills to practice. After one year, the individual must reapply as a new applicant.
