Minnesota dental license fees are set by statute under Minn. Stat. § 150A.091. Under subdivision 1 of that section, no fee may be refunded for any reason. Dentists, dental therapists, dental hygienists, and licensed dental assistants renew on a biennial (two-year) cycle; limited faculty dentists and resident dentists/providers renew annually; corporations, firms, and dental labs renew annually by December 31.

A late fee applies to any renewal received after the statutory deadline: 50 percent of the annual renewal fee for annually renewed licenses, or 25 percent of the biennial renewal fee for biennially renewed licenses (subd. 6–7). Licensure by credentials carries its own fee: dentist $893.00, dental hygienist $235.00, dental assistant $71.00, and dental therapist $340.00 (subd. 9). Reinstating a suspended or revoked license costs $140.00 (dentist), $85.00 (dental therapist), $55.00 (dental hygienist), or $35.00 (dental assistant) (subd. 10).
